GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of fall competition for conference men's and women's golf teams. Davenport junior Justin Grimard and Grand Valley State senior Rachael Krieger were recognized for their standout play.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Justin Grimard, Davenport
Justin Grimard of the Davenport University men's golf team was named the GLIAC Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon. The junior secured a first-place finish at the Motor City Shakedown at TPC Michigan on Tuesday (Sept. 30). It marks the first top-place finish of the Qubec, Canada natives intercollegiate career. He finished with a three-round score of 218 (+2), registering 10 birdies in two days of action. As a team, the Panthers finished second at the event, shooting 20 over par (884).
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Rachael Krieger, Grand Valley State
Rachael Krieger has been named the GLIAC Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first time in her career. Krieger helped lead the Lakers to two tournament victories, earning wins at the Bulldog Fall Classic and the Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invite. The senior picked up a runner-up finish at the Bulldog Fall Invite, then followed that by tying for third at the Laker Fall Invite. Up in Big Rapids, Krieger shot two rounds of 73 (+1), making five birdies over the two rounds to end at two over par. On Monday, she carded rounds of 71 (-1) and 73 (+1), making six birdies, finishing at even par, tying for third.
