The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its second weekly awards of the fall season for conference men's and women's golf teams. Parkside's AJ Powell and Davenport's Cayden Kwan were recognized for their standout performances.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: AJ Powell, Parkside
Parkside women’s golf senior AJ Powell has been chosen as the GLIAC Golfer of the Week for the second straight week. Powell finished first at the Warrior Invitational this week with a score of 219 (+3). Powell finished first with a 3-over 219, posting rounds of 76, 71, and 72, including a 1-under second round and an even-par final round. Powell led the field in par-4 scoring, playing them in three under par, and made eight birdies at the tournament, which was fourth most in the field
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Cayden Kwan, Davenport
Cayden Kwan is earning his third career GLIAC Golfer of the Week award and this time around did so in dominant fashion. Kwan captured the individual championship at the UIndy Invitational at Broadmoor Country Club with a 13-under-par 203. He broke the 54-hole individual school record of 211 set by three different golfers. Kwan opened the tournament with an eight-under 64 to break the school record of 66 shared by three different Panthers before following with an even-par 72 in round two. He closed the event in strong fashion, firing a five-under 67 to secure the top spot on the individual leaderboard by one stroke.
