The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly awards of the fall season for conference men's and women's golf teams. Wayne State's Jack Julian and Davenport's Venetia Chap were selected for honors.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Jack Julian, Wayne State
Jack Julian (South Lyon, Mich.) was named GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career on Wednesday. The honor comes after a pair of top-five showings for the redshirt sophomore. That includes a tie-for-second among 45 players at Albion's Marshall Masters on Oct. 9-10 and fourth out of 96 golfers at Findlay's Doc Spragg Fall Invitational on Oct. 12-13. Julian carded a three-under 141 (71-70) at the Marshall Masters before a six-under 210 (68-72-70) in Findlay, the 68 of which is the lowest round of his young career. As a redshirt freshman last season, he notched one top-10 placing, but already has three to his name in 2026-27.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Venetia Chap, Davenport
Venetia Chap led the way for Davenport, securing fifth place individually with a 12-over-par 156. The Panther standout opened the tournament with a three-over-par 75, the lowest round recorded by any Davenport golfer during the event. She followed with an 81 in the second round to secure her spot among the tournament's top five finishers. Chap finished just one stroke outside of a tie for third place.
