The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its first weekly awards of the fall season for conference men's and women's golf teams. Saginaw Valley State's Evan Klein and Parkside's AJ Powell were selected for recognition.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Evan Klein, Saginaw Valley State
Saginaw Valley State University men’s golfer Evan Klein was named the GLIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week after placing second in the Midwest/Central Region Preview. Klein shot led the Cardinals, shooting 209 (-4) over three rounds to finish second out of 108 golfers. He recorded rounds of 72 (+1), 66 (-5), and 71 (E) with 12 birdies and an eagle. Klein's second-round 66 was the lowest round of the tournament.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK: AJ Powell, Parkside
Parkside women’s golfer AJ Powell has been named the GLIAC Player of the Week. Powell took home medalist honors at the Bulldog Classic in Big Rapids this week, winning the event with a total of 227 (+11). The win is the third of her career. Powell led the field in par-5 scoring, playing them in two under par. She also made seven birdies and an eagle over the three rounds, which also led the field.
