LSSU's Suleiman and FSU's Bingham named GLIAC men's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 14 of the 2025-26 men's basketball season. Lake Superior State redshirt sophomore forward Omar Suleiman was recognized with GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors and Ferris State senior forward Mykel Bingham was tabbed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Omar Suleiman, Lake Superior State
Three games, three wins, three big offensive shows by Lake Superior State's Omar Suleiman. The redshirt sophomore from Canton, MI was unstoppable this week. He scored 24 points in an 82-71 win over Ferris State on Monday, then put up 21 against Davenport in a 99-79 Thursday victory. He hit four three-pointers in each matchup, including several key shots in crunch time. But he saved his best for last. Suleiman shot 9-of-15, 6-of-11 from three for 24 points in a 105-95 win over #15 Grand Valley State. Suleiman led the Laker offense as the team leaped into fourth position and a home playoff spot in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament going into the final week of the regular season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mykel Bingham, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior forward Mykel Bingham had a big week, leading the Bulldogs by averaging 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 blocked shots and 1.0 steals a game in setbacks to Lake Superior State and Northern Michigan. The veteran standout finished the week with 31 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, five blocked shots and two steals while shooting 52.2% from the floor and 55.6% (5-6) from the three-point arc. Bingham had 19 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in Monday’s road setback to the Lakers before coming back to notch 12 points with six rebounds, three assists and two blocks on Saturday against Northern Michigan in FSU’s Senior Day game. The Bulldog senior has 19 double-figure scoring games this year and has notched 10 rebounds or more a total of 11 times to date this campaign.
