GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 11 of the 2025-26 men's basketball season. Davenport junior guard Ken Walker was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Grand Valley State redshirt junior forward Shamus Thompson was honored as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ken Walker, Davenport
Junior Ken Walker continues to fill it up for the Panthers as he has four straight 20-point games. The Panthers upset No. 6 Michigan Tech on Thursday, the highest-ranked team that DU has defeated since joining NCAA Division II. Walker was instrumental in that victory playing all 40 minutes and contributing a team-high 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor to go with five assists. He matched that 24-point total on Saturday against No. 10 Northern Michigan and buried three triples. Walker is currently leading the GLIAC in scoring (22.2 PPG), which also ranks 8th in Division II.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Shamus Thompson, Grand Valley State
Shamus Thompson has been named the GLIAC defensive player of the week for the second time this season. Thompson was a key piece defensively to help GVSU defeat two nationally Top-10 teams over the weekend. The redshirt junior grabbed a game high eight rebounds and blocked three shots in the 85-80 win over No. 10 Northern Michigan. He followed that up by grabbing seven rebounds, blocking one shot ,and swiping one steal in the 55-46 win over No. 6 Michigan Tech. On the season, Thompson leads the team and ranks sixth in the GLIAC with 20 blocks. He is fifth in the GLIAC averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. The Lakers held Michigan Tech to just 46 points which is the lowest they've scored this season.
