GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 12 of the 2025-26 men's basketball season. Wayne State junior guard Jordan Briggs was tabbed GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Roosevelt junior guard Hamahrie Bowers was selected as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jordan Briggs, Wayne State
Junior Jordan Briggs (Muskegon, Mich.) was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. Last week in a pair of Wayne State wins, Briggs averaged 26.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game while shooting 51.3 percent (20-of-39) from the field. The third-year Warrior splashed in six of his 14 three-point attempts (42.9 percent) and went 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Against Davenport on Thursday night, Briggs led the Warriors to a season sweep of the Panthers with a game-high 26 points. The WSU point guard upped that point total to 27 on Saturday as Wayne State snapped 14th-ranked Grand Valley State's nine-game winning streak.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hamahrie Bowers, Roosevelt
Hamahrie Bowers was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant effort on the glass in Roosevelt’s only game of the week. The junior from Chicago grabbed 18 rebounds to go with his 19 points, and 15 of those boards came on the defensive end. His length and athleticism played a major role in Parkside shooting below 35 percent for the game, including 1 of 15 from 3-point range in the first half. Bowers also added three steals to his ledger to earn his first career weekly award from the league.
