GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 13 of the 2025-26 women's basketball season. Wayne State junior guard McKenna Ferguson was honored as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Ferris State senior forward/center Mya Hiram was tabbed as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: McKenna Ferguson, Wayne State
Wayne State University women's basketball guard McKenna Ferguson (Grandville, Mich. / Byron Center) has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the league office. Ferguson receives the award after tallying 21 points (7-of-13 FG, 7-of-10 FT) and a pair of assists during the 84-63 win over No. 12-ranked Northern Michigan University this past Thursday and a game-best 19 points (6-of-16 FG, 2-of-7 3PT, 5-of-6 FT) in the 68-67 triumph over Michigan Tech University. She contributed four boards and a steal against NMU, while posting three steals and six rebounds against the Huskies. In the first quarter of the MTU contest, the junior splashed a triple to become the 21st player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mya Hiram, Ferris State
Ferris State University senior forward Mya Hiram had a big week as the 17th-ranked Bulldogs won a pair of league road games this past week. Hiram averaged 18.0 points with 9.0 rebounds per game as FSU won at Roosevelt 81-53 before a decisive 93-65 win at Saginaw Valley State. The FSU veteran shot 52% from the floor and went nine-of-nine (100%) at the free throw line while netting 36 points, 18 rebounds, four blocked shots, three assists and two steals for the week. She had 16 points with 13 rebounds and three blocks in a double-double effort at Roosevelt before coming back with 20 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in the win at SVSU, helping the Bulldogs to the program’s 20th win this campaign.
