GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of spring competition for conference men's and women's golf teams. Wayne State graduate student Josh DiCarlo and Grand Valley State senior Olivia Stoll received recognition. Stoll also earned the conference honor last week.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Josh DiCarlo, Wayne State
Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) opened the week by tying-for-second out of 100 golfers on Tuesday at the Findlay Spring Invite in Richmond, Ky. DiCarlo tied his career low for 54 holes with a 208 (-8, 69-67-72). Five days later, the WSU graduate student won the 50-player Ashland Spring Invite thanks to another 208 (-8, 69-71-68). That marked the second tournament victory of DiCarlo's career and first in over three years since the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on March 12, 2022. In the process, Wayne State finished in second place out of 18 squads at Findlay and first among nine teams at Ashland.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Olivia Stoll, Grand Valley State
Two weeks into the spring season and GVSU senior Olivia Stoll has recorded her second GLIAC Golfer of the Week award. Stoll helped lead the Lakers to a runner-up finish at the Lynn Invitational, earning an individual third-place finish. Stoll carded rounds of 68, 71, and 74 to end the event with a score of three under. She made 11 birdies over her three rounds, helping to earn her sixth top 10 finish of the season and her fourth in the top three. Stoll is currently the 12 th ranked golfer in Division II, and the Lakers are ranked ninth as a team.
