GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of spring competition for conference men's and women's golf teams. Wayne State graduate student Josh DiCarlo and Ferris State junior Kamryn Shannon received recognition.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Josh DiCarlo, Wayne State
Josh DiCarlo (Amherstburg, Ont. / General Amherst) was named GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season and third instance in his career on Wednesday. The most-recent honor comes after DiCarlo claimed his second Medalist Honor of the season (second in three tournaments) on Monday and third of his career. The graduate student won Wayne State's Motor City Meltdown on Monday after a 36-hole score of 143 (-1, 71-72), two strokes better than the next-best mark, and led WSU to its eighth first place showing of 2024-25. The Ontario native became the 10th player in program history to win three or more tournaments and first since Brendan Seys won his third of five in 2017.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Kamryn Shannon, Ferris State
Ferris State University's Kamryn Shannon placed seventh overall as the Bulldogs registered a fifth-place team finish at the Missouri-St. Louis Invitational held on Sunday and Monday (April 13-14) in St. Louis, Mo. Shannon shot a 222 total for the three rounds. She carded a 76 in round one followed by identical 73 scores in the final two rounds of the 18-team event held at the Norwood Hills Country Club.
