MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Justin Grimard, Davenport
Justin Grimard of the Davenport University men’s golf team has been named the GLIAC men’s golfer of the week, the league announced on Thursday. The sophomore finished third at the Ken Partridge Invitational this week (April 6-8) at the Purgatory Golf Club In Noblesville, Ind. It marked his second consecutive top-five finish. Grimard tied two school records while at the event for low-rounds in 18 holes (66) and 54 holes (211). Looking ahead, Grimard and the Panthers will now shift their focus to the GLIAC Championships, which are set to take place from April 18-20 in Battle Creek, Mich. at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Lizzie Anderson, Ferris State
Ferris State University women's golfer Lizzie Anderson notched her first career collegiate win this week as she led the Bulldogs to their first team championship of the year at the NC4K Classic in Grove City, Ohio. Anderson claimed medalist honors in the 36-hole event with a six-over par 150 total for the two rounds. She shot back-to-back 75 scores to win the event by one stroke. Her play helped the Bulldogs post a 10-shot win over runner-up Grand Valley State in the field of 16 teams as FSU carded a 608 team figure at the Pinnacle Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
