GVSU's Coble recognized as GLIAC Men's Golf Player of the Year; all-conference teams revealed

GLIAC — For the second consecutive season, Grand Valley State's Drew Coble has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Player of the Year. 

Wayne State's Andrew Daily earned GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors.

Grand Valley State head coach Gareth Lappin, in second season at the helm of the Lakers' program, received conference coach of the year.

2025 GLIAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Drew Coble, Grand Valley State
For the second straight season, GVSU senior Drew Coble was named the GLIAC Golfer of the Year. Coble earned one win this season, taking the title at the Doc Spragg Invitational. He also claimed five more top 10 finishes, with four additional top five endings. He is currently the 13 th ranked player in the nation and was named to the PING All-Region team. Coble carded 20 rounds of par or better, shooting a low round of 66. Coble becomes the third Laker to earn multiple Golfer of the Year awards and won the ninth award in program history.
2025 GLIAC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Anthony Daily, Wayne State
Andrew Daily (Brighton, Mich.) was named Men's Freshman of the Year, the first Warrior to receive the honor in eight years. The redshirt freshman finished 2024-25 with a 74.4 scoring average on 1,711 strokes through 23 rounds spread across 10 tournaments.  Those 10 tournaments included three finishes in the top 10 and six among the top 25.  Those three top 10 showings included winning (of 110 players) the Ken Venturi Invitational on Oct. 8, placing second of 31 at Wayne State's HawksHead Invitational on Oct. 19-20 and tying-for-sixth of 43 at WSU's Motor City Meltdown on April 14.  Daily carded his first career round in the 60s with a 69 in round one of the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational (Oct. 14-15), an event in which he tied-for-11th out of 100 players.  That round was one of six on the season in which Daily shot below par.
2025 GLIAC COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Horn, Wayne State
Twenty-fourth year head coach Mike Horn was named GLIAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time (2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2025) after leading Wayne State to its first GLIAC Championship since 2003 and just the second in program history.  Horn paced the Warriors to their 17th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 21 seasons (not including COVID season in 2019-20) following a regular season that saw them claim eight individual tournament titles out of 11 events competed in.  WSU also finished second twice, was among the top five for every regular-season event and placed two student-athletes on each of the three All-GLIAC teams.
