GVSU's Lauer and FSU's Irhke recognized as GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 9 of the 2025 women's soccer season. Grand Valley State senior defender Kacy Lauer was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kacy Lauer, Grand Valley State
Senior Kacy Lauer has been named the GLIAC offensive player of the week for the first time this season. Lauer scored two goals over the weekend in wins over Davenport and Purdue Northwest. She scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute in the 1-0 shutout win over Davenport. She followed it up by opening the scoring in the third minute in the 2-1 win against Purdue Northwest. The senior played all 90 minutes in both wins to help the Lakers claim the GLIAC regular season championship. Lauer has now scored a career high six goals on the season which ranks second on the team. 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Korinne Ihrke, Ferris State
Ferris State University sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke tallied her fifth shutout of the season on Sunday as the Bulldogs scored an impressive 2-0 road win over second-place Saginaw Valley State in conference play. Ihrke made seven saves while playing all 90 minutes in net for FSU, which secured a quarterfinal-round home game for the conference tournament with the victory.
