GVSU's Aikens and FSU's Ihrke recognized as GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 10 of the 2025 women's soccer season. Grand Valley State sophomore forward Kendall Aikens earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades while Ferris State sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kendall Aikens, Grand Valley State
Sophomore Kendall Aikens has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career. AIkens scored two goals and dished out two assists for six points in the final two games of the regular season. She notched two goals and dished out an assist with five shots in the 7-0 shutout win against Roosevelt. Aikens dished out the game-winning assist in the 2-1 win against Saginaw Valley State. This season, Aikens has scored four goals and dished out two assists for 10 points while starting in all 18 games for the Lakers. GVSU claimed the GLIAC regular season championship and will host Roosevelt in the GLIAC tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 11th at 4:00 pm. 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Korinne Ihrke, Ferris State
Ferris State University sophomore goalkeeper Korinne Ihrke had a big weekend again as Ferris State closed out the regular-season in strong fashion with back-to-back home wins. Ihrke earned a 2-1 win on Thursday in a big league matchup with Parkside, making eight saves in 90 minutes of action, including several late stops after FSU had taken a one-goal lead. She came back to earn a shutout win on Saturday as the Bulldogs beat Roosevelt 3-0 in the regular-season finale, playing nearly 72 minutes overall. Her play helped the Bulldogs finish in the top four of the league standings and secure a quarterfinal-round home contest in the league tournament. She has now helped FSU to a 5-0-1 mark in its last six outings.
