GLIAC announces 2025 women's soccer all-conference teams and postseason awards; SVSU's Bajis honored as GLIAC Player of the Year

GLIAC – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the women's soccer postseason awards for 2025, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Saginaw Valley State senior midfielder Madi Bajis was named GLIAC Player of the Year and GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Bajis put together a standout senior season, leading the GLIAC in both goals (12) and points (27)—career highs that surpassed her impressive sophomore campaign. She once again added three assists while powering an SVSU offense that finished second in the conference in total goals and points, driving the Cardinals to a 12-5-2 record. Bajis delivered in big moments, scoring three game-winners, including a clutch late strike at Davenport as SVSU netted two goals in the final 10 minutes to secure the road victory. She found the back of the net in 11 different matches, recorded a brace against Michigan Tech, and put together a pair of three-game scoring streaks, cementing herself as one of the conference’s most consistent and dangerous attacking threats.

GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Grand Valley State senior Kacy Lauer. Lauer becomes the 13th player in program history to earn the GLIAC defensive player of the year award. The senior has appeared and started in all 19 games this season and has been a key contributor to GVSU having 11 shutouts on the season which leads the GLIAC. Lauer has scored a career high six goals and dished out five assists for a career best 17 points this season from her primary outside defensive back position. She has scored two game-winning goals in the home wins against Michigan Tech and Davenport. In conference play, Lauer is tied for the team lead and leads all GLIAC defenders with 16 points and six goals. She is one of three Lakers to have logged over 1500 minutes this season and has appeared in all 90 minutes in nine games. Lauer earns her first major individual GLIAC award and is now a two-time All-GLIAC first team honoree and three-time All-GLIAC performer.

Grand Valley State freshman Macie Hunter earned GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year recognition. Hunter becomes the fourth player in program history to earn GLIAC goalkeeper of the year honors. GLIAC Freshman of the Year was awarded to Grand Valley State forward Ivy Wilhelm.  Wilhelm is the 11th player in program history to earn the GLIAC freshman of the year award and first since the 2021 spring season. This season, Wilhelm ranks tied for fourth on the team with 15 points. She has scored five goals and five assists on the season and ranks tied for second on the team with three-game-winning goals. The freshman has appeared in all 19 games this season making two starts. In conference play, Wilhelm has notched four goals and four assists for 12 points with two game-winning goals. She scored the game-winning goal in the 3-0 home win vs Northern Michigan and the 2-1 road win at Ferris State.

Grand Valley State earned 2025 GLIAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Katelyn Longino becomes the fifth different head coach in program history to earn GLIAC coach of the year honors and also the fourth coach to earn the award in their first year as head coach at GVSU. In her first season as head coach, Longino guided GVSU to the GLIAC regular season championship for the 18th time in program history and first since the 2022 season. GVSU went 16-2 in the regular season with a 13-1 conference mark. The 16 wins in the regular season marks the most wins in a regular season in program history since the 2021 season.
