NMU's Rosen and RU's Carvajal selected as GLIAC men's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 8 of the 2025 men's soccer season. Northern Michigan junior forward Luca Rosen was tabbed as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Roosevelt senior goalkeeper Eric Carvajal was honored as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Luca Rosen, Northern Michigan
Standout forward Luca Rosen has been honored as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference today. Rosen ended his weekend with a brace, scoring the final two goals in the 3-0 win over St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon on the shores of Lake Superior. The forward first made a move into the box and was fouled, drawing a penalty for his side before stepping over the ball and finishing convincingly. Rosen would then steal the ball from the last Husky defender to go down one-on-one with the goalie, where he once again made no mistake to deposit into the back of the net and seal the deal. In a rare mid-week match, Rosen generated plenty of offense against Parkside, as the forward fired 10 shots, matching a single-game season-high for the London, England native. In conference play on the season, Rosen paces the GLIAC in shots (60) and shots on goal (33), and leads the nation in shots per game (4.79) and is sixth in the nation in shots on goal per game (1.93). Rosen's (7-0--14) goal and point totals are second to Fynn Mewes (8-1--17) of Roosevelt. Both Rosen and Mewes lead the conference in GWGs (3).
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eric Carvajal, Roosevelt
For the second time this season, Roosevelt goalkeeper Eric Carvajal was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. The senior from Arlington Heights, Ill. played a critical role in the Lakers staying atop the conference entering the final week of play with a 1-0-1 record. Carvajal made six saves, including one from within five yards of goal, to preserve a 1-1 tie with Saginaw Valley State on Friday. He then followed up Sunday with a 10-save shutout of Davenport to set the RU career record with 16 clean sheets. This season, Carvajal has a 1.24 goals against average and .786 save percentage with three solo shutouts and one combined effort.
