DU's Davis and SVSU's Thomas recognized as GLIAC men's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 7 of the 2025 men's soccer season. Davenport freshman midfielder Charlie Davis received GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors while Saginaw Valley State senior defender Kolja Thomas earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Charlie Davis, Davenport
Charlie Davis, freshman midfielder for the Davenport University men’s soccer team, earned GLIAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors after propelling the Panthers to a 3-1 victory over Northern Michigan and earning a draw with Wisconsin-Parkside this past weekend. Davis, a true freshman from London, U.K., tallied three goals and one assist for a total of seven points, taking 10 shots, with five on target, across two full 90-minute matches. In the 3-1 win over Northern Michigan, Davis found the back of the net twice and assisted another Panther, totaling five points in a single match. He followed that performance with another standout outing in the 1-1 draw against Wis.-Parkside, scoring directly from a corner kick — an Olimpico — to beat the Rangers’ goalkeeper.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kolja Thomas, Saginaw Valley State
Senior Kolja Thomas led the Cardinal defense playing in all 180 minutes over the weekend. The senior defender helped the team hold opponents to seven total shots and only one on goal over the two matches. Thomas also accounted for four shots, two on goal, putting more shots on target than the SVSU opponents.
