Parkside's Mrowiec and SVSU's Decker earn GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the 10th week of the 2026 baseball season. Parkside senior utility player Joe Mrowiec was selected as GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State senior southpaw Jack Decker earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Wekk recognition. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Joe Mrowiec, Parkside
Joe Mrowiec was named GLIAC Player of the Week following a dominant performance against Purdue Northwest this past weekend. He batted .588 (10-for-17) and posted a 1.294 slugging percentage. Mrowiec drove in 11 runs, recording three doubles and three home runs among his 10 hits, while also scoring nine runs. The honor marks the first of his career and makes him the first Parkside player to earn the award this season.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jack Decker, Saginaw Valley State
Jack Decker threw a scoreless 6.1 innings in a 2-1 upset victory over No. 6 Grand Valley State on Friday. The senior pitcher allowed three hits and two walks and struck out three, only allowing two runners in scoring position. He entered in the third with runners on first and third and stranded them at those bases. Later, the Farmington Hills, Michigan native pitched out of the seventh and eighth innings without allowing lead off doubles to score. Decker is first in the conference in strikeouts with 60 and has struck out a GLIAC-leading 23 of them looking.
