GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the sixth week of the 2026 baseball season. Saginaw Valley State senior outfielder Aaron Bess garnered GLIAC Player of the Week honors while Wayne State redshirt junior righthander Will Lowery earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week recognition.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Aaron Bess, Saginaw Valley State
Aaron Bess dominated against Purdue Northwest, leading the team in a 3-1 series victory. The Boyne City, Michigan native hit .563 (9-for-16) with four doubles and a home run. He scored 10 runs and drove in five as he slugged 1.000 and had an on-base percentage of .619 after drawing three walks and getting hit by a pitch. The senior outfielder had an OPS of 1.619 and was a perfect 6-6 on stolen base attempts proving to be a speed and power threat. Bess is riding a seven-game hitting streak and was on base multiple times in all four games over the weekend, including two three-hit performances.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Will Lowery, Wayne State
Redshirt junior right-hander Will Lowery (Grosse Ile, Mich. [Kalamazoo Valley C.C.]) was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. The first-year Warrior threw Wayne State's first nine-inning no-hitter since 2019 and second in the last 22 years in a 10-1 win at Parkside on Friday. While improving to 5-0 on the season and throwing 119 pitches, Lowery surrendered one unearned run, one walk and struck out 10 Rangers.
