GVSU's Morrison and SVSU's Sequin honored as GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the second week of the 2026 baseball season. Grand Valley State senior shortstop Evan Morrison was recognized as GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State freshman righthander Jack Sequin earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors. 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Evan Morrison, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior SS Evan Morrison has been named the GLIAC Player of the Week for a second consecutive week. Morrison continued his torrid offensive pace to open the 2026 campaign, hitting .467 (7-for-15) with a double, two home runs, seven RBIs and five runs scored. He tallied a .933 slugging percentage, .500 on base percentage for a 1.433 OPS. Morrison, who collected two or more hits in each game of the three-game series sweep at Cedarville, drove in five runs in the series opener versus All-American pitcher Jensen Wagoner. He hit a 3-run HR in the third to break a scoreless game and a 2-run single in the top of the ninth with GVSU leading 4-3. In game two of the series Morrison singled home a run with GVSU leading 3-2 and two outs. He closed the series with 3-hit game and now has six multi-hit games in seven games played. Morrison is 20-for-33 (.606) with 20 hits, four doubles, three triples, two home runs and 10 RBI in seven games.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jack Sequin, Saginaw Valley State
Freshman Jack Sequin threw the second Cardinal no-hitter of the 21st century on Saturday in a 9-0 win over Lake Erie. In his second career start, the Bay City, Michigan native pitched seven innings, allowed two walks and hit a batter, and struck out six. He also rolled up a double play and had a runner thrown out on the base paths to face one batter above the minimum. In the outing, Sequin threw an efficient 71 pitches, throwing just over 10 pitches an inning. It’s the first GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors for Sequin’s career and the first for the Cardinals in the 2026 season.
