Week 7 of the GLIAC football season features four conference matchups, including the latest edition of two storied rivalries.
The GLIAC continues to demonstrate its strength and depth nationally, with four teams ranked in the top 15 in Division II. In addition, four conference players -- Davenport running back Cephus Harris, Grand Valley State receiver Kellen Reed, Saginaw Valley State quarterback Connor Wolf and Roosevelt defensive back Corey Webb -- collectively lead the NCAA in eight major statistical categories.
No. 1 Ferris State (6-0, 2-0 GLIAC) and No. 13 Grand Valley State (5-1, 1-1 GLIAC) will renew their fierce rivalry on Saturday (3 p.m.) at Lubbers Stadium in Allendale when the teams meet in the annual Anchor-Bone Classic.
The contest will air as one of the national games of the week on the FloSports FAST Channel, which can now be found on Amazon Prime.
Additionally, it will also air on the FloSports and FloCollege platform as part of the existing pay-per-view streaming distribution, while also receiving additional exposure on the new FloSports Channel, which is available through Amazon Prime Video, LG and YouTube.
The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back shutouts, extending their winning streak to 36 consecutive games and moving them closer to Grand Valley State's NCAA record 40-game stretch from 2005-07.
The Lakers' dropped their first contest of the season last week, a 41-35 overtime setback to Michigan Tech in Houghton.
The No. 14 Huskies (5-1, 2-0 GLIAC) are back on their home field Saturday at 12 p.m to host Northern Michigan (0-6, 0-2 GLIAC) with the Miner's Cup on the line. Michigan Tech currently holds the second-longest win streak in series history at 15.
Tech's victory over GVSU a week ago was its first win over a top-10-ranked opponent since defeating Ashland on Oct. 29, 2016.
No. 9 Davenport (6-0, 2-0 GLIAC) will look to maintain its unbeaten record when it visits Roosevelt (5-1, 1-1 GLIAC) for a 2 p.m. clash at Morris Field in Arlington Heights, Ill.
The Panthers are powered by the nation's No. 3-ranked rushing attack, which features the DII leader in yards on the ground, Cephus Harris.
Last Saturday, Roosevelt evened its conference mark at 1-1 with a 33-18 victory at Wayne State.
Saginaw Valley State (2-4, 0-2 GLIAC) and Wayne State (0-6, 0-2 GLIAC) will square off in Detroit under the lights. Kick off is set for 6 p.m. at the Warriors' Tom Adams Field.
