The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2026 football season. Wayne State running back D'Vaun Bentley (Offensive Player of the Week), Ferris State linebacker Brady Hamby (Defensive Player of the Week) and Ferris State kicker Jay Cady (Special Teams Player of the Week) were selected for recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: D'Vaun Bentley, Wayne State
WSU graduate student running back D'Vaun Bentley had 19 carries for 182 yards and four touchdowns in the loss at Quincy. The 182 rushing yards were the most by a Warrior since Myren Harris rushed for 295 yards on 32 attempts at Michigan Tech on Oct. 8, 2022, while the four rushing touchdowns were the most since Myren Harris had four rushing scores vs. Northwood on Oct. 30, 2021. He was never stopped behind the line of scrimmage by the Hawks. Bentley also contributed two pass receptions for 50 yards, including a 41-yard reception from deep in Warrior territory and just over midfield, to finish with 232 all-purpose yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brady Hamby, Ferris State
Ferris State University sophomore linebacker Brady Hamby had a big day for the Bulldog defense in FSU’s decisive 73-6 homecoming win over Kentucky Christian on Saturday at Top Taggart Field. Hamby led the Bulldogs with five stops in the game, including a tackle for loss, as FSU dominated the Knights from start to finish and played nearly 100 guys in the game. Ferris State limited KCU to only 192 total yards in the contest and a four-of-15 (27%) showing on third down while also forcing an early fumble. Hamby’s play helped the Bulldogs win their 34th consecutive game overall and it also marked FSU’s 31st win in a row at home.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jay Cady, Ferris State
Ferris State University kicker Jay Cady had a big day in the top-ranked Bulldogs’ impressive 73-6 homecoming win over Kentucky Christian on Saturday before a big crowd at Top Taggart Field. Cady accounted for 13 total points in the game, going 10-of-10 on PAT tries while adding a late first-half field goal that gave FSU a 59-0 lead at the break. He also kicked off for the first time this season and finished with five kickoffs for 317 yards, averaging 63.4 yards per kick with one touchback. His play helped the Bulldogs improve to 4-0 overall while winning their 31st consecutive home contest.
