2025 Parkside Men's Soccer Season Preview

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its 2025 men’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll. Parkside was tabbed to finish third in the seven-team field, earning 20 total points. Saginaw Valley State was picked to repeat as GLIAC champions, collecting 36 total points and six of the seven first-place votes, while Roosevelt took second with 31 points and the remaining first place vote.

Parkside enters the 2025 season aiming to bounce back after finishing 6–7–4 overall (4–5–3 GLIAC) in 2024, marking their first losing season in seven years. The Rangers earned the No. 5 seed in the GLIAC Tournament but saw their season end with a quarterfinal loss to fourth-seeded Davenport. The 2025 schedule begins with three consecutive non-conference road matches at Quincy, Lewis, and Maryville before the Rangers’ home opener against Upper Iowa. Parkside’s GLIAC campaign opens on the road at Northern Michigan on Friday, September 19.

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Daniyal Rana headlines the list of returners after being named the 2024 GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Rana started all 15 matches he appeared in, posting 60 saves (second in the GLIAC), a .769 save percentage, and five clean sheets (third in the conference). The Waukesha native set career highs in saves, shutouts, and single-game saves with seven.

Senior forward Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen returns after an impactful 2024 campaign in which he scored two goals — tied for second-most on the team — despite limited appearances. Senior midfielder Jamie Le Comte also looks to play a key role after tallying one goal and two assists, playing over 1,500 minutes, and starting all 17 matches in his first year as a Ranger.

"After seeing the full group for a few days together, I’ve been impressed with the energy and attitude.” said Head Coach Jason Zitzke. “We have a young, new group with some of them arriving in the spring, so we want to pick up where we left off from then and keep building.”

Parkside hosts its first of seven home matches at Wood Road Field on Sunday, September 14, at noon. For the complete schedule, game times, and promotional details, visit ParksideRangers.com.
