DU's Reisbig and Batka earn top baseball awards; All-GLIAC teams announced

LANSING, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2025 All-GLIAC Baseball Teams and postseason awards in conjunction with the conference's annual tournament, held at the Jackson Field in Lansing, Mich. The awards were voted on by the conference baseball coaches.

The GLIAC regular season champion Davenport Panthers earned the top two honors. Senior outfielder/first baseman Xander Reisbig was named player of the year and redshirt senior righthander Keegan Batka was recognized as GLIAC Pitcher of the Year.

Saginaw Valley State shortstop Jordan Lewis was honored as GLIAC Freshman Player of the Year.

For the second consecutive year, a Parkside hurler earned GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year. The Rangers' Sam Mommer received the 2025 award.

Davenport skipper Kevin Tidey was honored as GLIAC Coach of the Year for leading the Panthers to a first-place conference finish and the regular season crown.

Purdue Northwest's Drake Ballard is the 2025 recipient of the Troy Berry Award. The honor, named for the University of Findlay head baseball coach, is presented annually to the GLIAC baseball player who best combines outstanding character and leadership on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Davenport led all conference squads with six first-team selections followed by Grand Valley State with four. GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt landed its first-ever, first team honoree in senior outfielder James Berry.

2025 GLIAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Xander Reisbig, Davenport
Xander Reisbig becomes the fourth Panther to earn the GLIAC Player of the Year award and the first since Nolan Anspaugh in 2022. He tore through the GLIAC this season, batting .471 in league games with 33 hits in 70 at-bats. Reisbig played and started in 19 games in league action and scored 20 runs, while contributing nine doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 28 RBI. He slugged .843 and posted a .526 on-base percentage. Reisbig hit safely in his first 18 straight GLIAC games before going 0-for-3 in the final game last Sunday against Roosevelt. He drew a walk in that game and reached base safely in all 19 GLIAC games he played. On six different occasions, he drove in three runs in a GLIAC game this season. In addition, he had 12 multi-hit games.
2025 GLIAC PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Keegan Batka, Davenport
Keegan Batka becomes the first Panther to earn GLIAC Pitcher of the Year honors. He made a huge impact in his one season at Davenport after transferring in from Central Michigan University. Batka had a sterling earned-run average of 2.36 in his five GLIAC starts this season. He led the league with 41 strikeouts in those five starts and was just one of four hurlers to throw a shutout. He earned NCBWA Division II National Pitcher of the Year after a nine-inning, one-hit blanking of Wayne State with nine strikeouts back on Apr. 26. He was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week four times this season and struck out eight or more batters in four of his five GLIAC starts. His season high was 11 punchouts in just six innings against Parkside on Apr. 11. Batka allowed just 19 hits in 34.1 innings in GLIAC play as opponents hit just .161 against him.
2025 GLIAC FRESHMAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Jordan Lewis, Saginaw Valley State
SVSU freshman two-way player Jordan Lewis has been named the GLIAC Freshman Player of the Year, becoming the sixth player in program history to earn the honor. Lewis appeared in 30 games, collecting 21 hits in 76 at-bats. The Chesterfield, Michigan native recorded seven doubles and one home run, scored 12 runs, and tallied 22 RBIs. In 2025, he slashed .276/.394/.408 while also making seven appearances on the mound. He posted a 2-0 record, pitching 8.2 innings and striking out 16. On March 21, Lewis went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, and two RBIs against Roosevelt. He hit his only home run of the season on March 28 at William Jewell, finishing that game with three RBIs for the second time this year.

2025 GLIAC FRESHMAN PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Sam Mommer, Parkside
In his first season with the Rangers, Mommer made the most of it, earning the title of GLIAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year. He became the second Ranger in as many years to earn the award. Mommer quickly entered ace conversations after a complete-game shutout against Southwest Baptist in just the second start of his career. In all, he tossed 59.1 innings on the mound with an incredible strikeout-to-walk ratio. Mommer punched out 59 batters while walking just 10 all season. The highlight of his freshman campaign came in a seven-inning masterclass against nationally ranked Grand Valley State, where he led the Rangers to a signature ranked victory. He allowed just three hits, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out six.

He has the team poised for a berth in the upcoming NCAA Midwest Regional, as the Panthers were ranked No. 1 in the first regional rankings. The Panthers are looking to return to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2022. Davenport has won 37 games with the toughest schedule in Division II.
