GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2025 baseball season. Davenport senior outfielder/first baseman Xander Reisbig earned GLIAC Player of the Week honors while Wayne State redshirt junior righthander Gabe Nazelli was awarded GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Xander Reisbig, Davenport
Davenport senior outfielder/first baseman Xander Reisbig helped pace the offense in a four-game sweep over Saginaw Valley State to extend DU's GLIAC win streak to 11 games. He batted. 500 with eight hits in 16 at-bats, while scoring five runs and driving in five runs. He had two doubles and 10 total bases with a .625 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage. DU outscored SVSU, 38-15, in the series and hit .331 as a team.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Gabe Nazelli, Wayne State
Gabe Nazelli (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Detroit Country Day) was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. The honor comes after Nazelli threw the first complete-game shutout of his career on Friday, a 3-0 win at ninth-ranked Grand Valley State in seven innings. He improved to 5-2 on the season and held one of the best offenses in the region scoreless for just the third time in 39 games. Nazelli allowed seven hits with one free pass on an economic 78 pitches while facing 27 batters. With the triumph, WSU snapped GVSU's eight-game winning streak and handed the Lakers' just their second home defeat of the season (12-2).
