GVSU's Thelen and DU's Batka earn GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the ninth week of the 2025 baseball season. Grand Valley State freshman outfielder Caden Thelen was recognized as GLIAC Player of the Week while Davenport redshirt senior righthander Keegan Batka received GLIAC Pitcher of the Week accolades. 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caden Thelen, Grand Valley State
Freshman outfielder Caden Thelen hit .526 for the week (10-19) with seven RBI, 18 total bases, five runs scored, five extra base hits and three stolen bases. Thelen recorded a slugging percentage of .947, on base percentage of .550 and an OPS of 1.497. Thelen collected three triples and two doubles as the #11 Lakers went 5-0 for the week. He was 3-4 with a double, a triple and four RBI in game three of the series vs. Roosevelt. Caden is hitting .441 with three doubles and three triples since being inserted into the lineup. 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Keegan Batka, Davenport
Davenport redshirt senior Keegan Batka set a season high with 11 strikeouts in a 7-4 win over Parkside on Friday. Batka improved to 6-1 this season by tossing six innings and allowing three hits and one earned run. He lowered his season ERA to 2.29 and leads the GLIAC with 63 strikeouts. Batka has now went at least six innings in all nine of his starts this season.
