SVSU's Mead and WSU's Getting awarded GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2025 baseball season. Saginaw Valley State sophomore outfielder Lucas Mead was honored as GLIAC Player of the Week while Wayne State junior right-hander Ethan Getting was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lucas Mead, Saginaw Valley State
Sophomore outfielder Lucas Mead had an impressive performance in a four-game series against Roosevelt, going 11-for-19 at the plate. He led the Cardinals with two doubles and two home runs, while scoring eight runs, driving in eight RBI, and drawing three walks. With a .579 batting average over the weekend, Mead has raised his season average to .486, the highest in the GLIAC. His three walks contributed to a .636 on-base percentage over the series, and his four extra-base hits helped him achieve a 1.000 slugging percentage—both of which rank among the top five in NCAA Division II. On the season, Mead boasts a .602 on-base percentage and a 1.352 OPS, both leading the GLIAC, while his .750 slugging percentage ranks second, just behind the leader at .758.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Ethan Getting, Wayne State
Junior right-hander Ethan Getting (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Portage Northern [Purdue Northwest]) was named GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday.  The honor comes after Getting's brilliant relief appearance and pitching victory (first as a Warrior) in Wayne State's 4-3 triumph over No. 20 Florida Southern on Sunday.  Out of the bullpen, Getting threw five scoreless innings on 64 pitches with just one hit allowed, only one walk and three strikeouts.  That effort marked the first time he'd thrown more than two and two-thirds since 2023 and he faced just two batters over the minimum.
