GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 13th week of competition of the 2024-25 swimming & diving season. Earning recognition were three Saginaw Valley State swimmers and divers -- Benjamin Wainman (men's swimming), Rory Kauffman (men's diving) and Cailey Mills (women's diving) -- and Nadia Jastrzabek from Davenport (women's swimming).
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Benjamin Wainman, Grand Valley State
Benjamin Wainman swam in three events, winning both the 500-yard freestyle and the 1650-yard freestyle as the Cardinals defeated Davenport 191.5-105.5. The Australian native finished with times of 4:35.75 and 15:30.92 and posted a 50-yard split of 22.11 in his leg of the 200-yard free relay. This is the fifth weekly award for Wainman and the sixth of his career.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Nadia Jastrzabek, Davenport
Nadia Jastrzabek had the most notable performance of the meet for Davenport at Saginaw Valley State as she set the school record in the 50 free (23.38) and 100 free (50.49). She just started competing in the winter semester and already has left her mark. Those times are also NCAA B cut for potential inclusion in the national championships.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Rory Kauffman, Saginaw Valley State
Rory Kauffman scored 281.10 in the 1-meter dives to take first against Davenport. He followed up with a second-place score of 270.70 in the 3-meter dives. This is the first weekly award for Kauffman in 2024-25 and the fourth in his career.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Cailey Mills, Saginaw Valley State
Cailey Mills was the top-diver in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in a dual meet against Davenport. She scored 241.90 and 227.75 respectively, helping the women defeat the Panthers 154.5-139.5. This is the first weekly award for Mills in her career.
