Parkside's Sayles and Grand Valley State's Dentler receive GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2025 baseball season. Parkside junior catcher Dylan Sayles was selected as GLIAC Player of the Week while Grand Valley State senior righthander Jayden Dentler was recognized as GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dylan Sayles, Parkside
In his first weekend as a Parkside Ranger, junior Dylan Sayles made an immediate impact, earning GLIAC Player of the Week honors. Sayles claimed his first GLIAC award after a stellar performance in Parkside’s season-opening doubleheader. Sayles wasted no time making his presence felt, tallying three hits in his debut. His biggest moment came in the seventh inning of Game One, when he delivered the game-tying RBI single with Parkside down to their final two outs. Moments later, he crossed the plate as the go-ahead run, helping secure the victory. He carried that momentum into Game Two, reaching base four times and collecting another three hits, including an extra-base knock. He also scored twice, proving to be a major threat at the top of Parkside’s lineup. With Parkside sweeping both games, Sayles finished the day 6-for-8 at the plate.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jayden Dentler, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior right-handed pitcher Jayden Dentler was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for his performance in game one of a four-game series at Drury. Dentler picked up his first win of the season, yielding two runs on six hits with nine strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work. Drury managed two runs in the fourth inning, but only advanced two other runners to third base in his outing. Dentler (1-0) has a 2.00 earned run average in his two outings with 12 strikeouts.
