DU's Tchavdarov and SVSU's Decker named GLIAC baseball player and pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the first week of the 2025 baseball season. Davenport redshirt junior outfielder Michael Tchavdarov was named GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State junior southpaw Jack Decker was honored as GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Tchavdarov, Davenport
Davenport junior outffielder Michael Tchavdarov helped lead the Panthers to a 4-0 sweep over Northwood to start the season. He batted .364 (4-11) with a 1.045 OPS and led the team with five RBI in the four games against the Timberwolves. His best game came in game four of the series with a double and four RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jack Decker, Saginaw Valley State
Junior Jack Decker pitched seven-scoreless innings in the 2-0 win in game two of a doubleheader against Tiffin on Friday. He struck out six while allowing two hits and a walk to post a 0.43 WHIP in the Cardinals first win of the year. The Farmington Hills native shutdown the Dragons offense who took game one, allowing Saginaw Valley to split the two games.
