GVSU's Fromm and Hunter selected as GLIAC women's soccer players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 5 of the 2025 women's soccer season. Grand Valley State swept the honors, with sophomore forward Sarah Fromm and freshman goalkeeper Macie Hunter receiving recognition. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sarah Fromm, Grand Valley State
Sophomore Sarah Fromm has been named the GLIAC offensive player of the week for the second time this season. Fromm notched a goal and assist last weekend to help GVSU to a pair of GLIAC wins against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. She scored the game winning goal in the 77th minute inthe 1-0 win over Parkside for her team leading fifth goal of the season. On Sunday, Fromm assisted on the game winning goal in the 2-0 win at Purdue Northwest. Fromm leads GVSU offensively with five goals and 12 points on the season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Macie Hunter, Grand Valley State
Freshman goalkeeper Macie Hunter has earned GLIAC defensive player of the week honors for the first time in her career. Hunter started in goal in both games last weekend and posted two clean sheets in wins over Parkside and Purdue Northwest. She recorded two saves to help GVSU defeat Parkside 1-0 at home on Friday. Hunter helped the Lakers complete the weekend sweep by notching another shutout in the 2-0 win at Purdue Northwest. She has appeared in six games making five starts this season without allowing a single goal. Hunter has posted five consecutive individual shutouts to begin GLIAC play.
