GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of competition of the 2025-26 swimming & diving season. Earning recognition were Saginaw Valley State's William Hsiao (men's swimming), Carolina Bononi Heinz (women's swimming) and Rory Kauffman (men's diving) and Northern Michigan's Kalina Ceglinski (women's diving).
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: William Hsiao, Saginaw Valley State
William Hsiao took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:18.13) on Friday and first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:35.71) on Saturday. Hsiao also had a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:34.64) on Friday, helping the men’s team to back-to-back wins over Findlay.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Carolina Bononi Heinz, Saginaw Valley State
Carolina Bononi Heinz had a big weekend, breaking the program record in the 200-yard freestyle. She finished the event with a time of 1:50.73 and also had three second place finishes individually and another in the 200-yard medley relay.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Rory Kauffman, Saginaw Valley State
Rory Kauffman broke two program and pool records on Saturday. He scored 334.50 in the 1-meter and 331.05 in the 3-meter dives, smashing both records for the team and the Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center records. He took first in both the events right after taking first place in both dives the day before as well.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Kalina Ceglinski, Northern Michigan
Standout diver for the NMU women's swim and dive team, junior Kalia Ceglinski, has been honored with GLIAC Female Diver of the Week after her performances over the weekend. The Elmhurt, Illinois, native opened the weekend against #14 Findlay and #17 Saginaw Valley on Friday with a win in the 1-meter diving, posting a score of 264.85, followed by a win in the 3-meter, a score of 253.95. Ceglinski then turned around less than 24 hours later in the pool versus #4 Grand Valley State, where she won both the 1-meter (264.30) and 3-meter (250.73) en route to claiming four gold-medal finishes over the weekend against strong nationally-ranked competition. The 2024 First-Team All-American in the 3-meter and Second-Team All-American in the 1-meter has now won all eight events she has competed in this season, dating back to the UP showdown to start the season at the beginning of October.
