WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Anika Wright, Northern Michigan
A native of Stillwater, Minnesota, Anika Wright had a fantastic weekend in the PEIF pool en route to her second GLIAC weekly honor. In Friday’s ‘skins meet’, the All-American started the weekend by swimming with a second-place 200 free relay team to go along with less-traditional roles for her, such as swimming the breaststroke portion of a 200 medley relay team and competing in the 100 IM, before being knocked out in the semifinals of the skins portion. In Saturday’s 239-61 win, Wright finished first in all four of her events: swimming freestyle to anchor the first-place 400 medley relay team and blowing the field out of the water for golds in the 1000 free, 500 free, and 400 IM. Wright paced the Wildcats with 27 points on Saturday. Through week six of the season, Wright is the best on the team and the seventh-best swimmer in the GLIAC in terms of point accumulation, as she owns 666.60 points.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Max Wasiniak, Wayne State
Max Wasiniak (Huron, Ohio) was named GLIAC Diver of the Week for the fifth time in his career and second instance this season on Tuesday. Wasiniak won all four of the diving events for Wayne State at eighth-ranked Northern Michigan on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 7-8. Those four victories included 474.60 at one meter (11 dives) and 316.80 at three meters (six dives) on day one before 291.90 at one meter (six dives) and 312.98 at three meters (six dives) on day two. The junior helped lead the No. 11 Warriors to a 163-137 defeat of the Wildcats in their first dual meet of the season.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Kalina Ceglinski, Northern Michigan
An Elmhurst, Illinois, native, Kalina Ceglinski has yet to slow down, as the junior All-American won four more boards over the weekend. On Friday, Ceglinski opened with a score of 252.68 in the 3-meter, besting teammate Daly in second by 20+ points, before claiming the 1-meter board with her score of 281.70 with a 24+ point win, earning her team 18 points on Friday. Saturday saw much of the same, as she claimed another 18 points with decisive 450.00 points in the 1-meter, a 25+ point gap ahead of second, and a dominant 278.18 points in the 3-meter, 33+ points ahead of second place and the largest point gap on the weekend. Through six competitions to start the 2025/26 season, Ceglinski has earned gold in all of her boards.
