GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of competition of the 2024-25 swimming & diving season. Earning recognition were four Grand Valley State swimmers and divers -- Matt Bosch (men's swimming), Lucy Hedley (women's swimming), Carter Wood (men's diving) and Maddie Kooistra (women's diving).
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Matt Bosch, Grand Valley State
Matt Bosch competed in four events this past weekend against the University of Findlay. He won the 100 and 200 freestyle, posting times of 43.95 and 1:36.73, respectively—both new pool records at the GVSU Fieldhouse Pool. Bosch also placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.36. Additionally, he was part of the 400 freestyle relay team, which took first place with a time of 2:58.84.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Lucy Hedley, Grand Valley State
Lucy Hedley broke four pool records on Saturday against the University of Findlay. She touched the wall at 1:48.83 in the 200 freestyle. Hedley competed in the 50, 200, and 500 freestyle with times of 23.36, 1:48.83, and 4:53.72. She was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay that posted a time of 3:26.72. Lucy Hedley was named GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for the sixth time this season, marking her third consecutive time in a row.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Carter Wood, Grand Valley State
Carter Wood scored a 300.15 in the 1 mtr. Dive to take first place for the Lakers. He also grabbed the win for the 3 mtr. Dive with a score of 280.05.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Maddie Kooistra, Grand Valley State
Maddie Kooistra earned first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, posting scores of 289.58 and 264.23 this past weekend.
