GLIAC announces swimmers and divers of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of competition of the 2024-25 swimming & diving season. Awards were presented to Grand Valley State senior Matt Bosch (men's swmming), junior Sara Alvarez (women's swimming) and senior Maddie Kooistra (women's diving) in addition to St Cloud State sophomore Jimmy Nord (men's diving). 

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Matt Bosch, Grand Valley State
Matt Bosch played a key role in last week's meet against Calvin University and Saginaw Valley State. Bosch broke a pool record at Venema Aquatic Center in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 43.79. He competed in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.28 to place second. Bosch finished first in both the 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard freestyle relay with times of 1:37.22 and 1:20.09.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Sara Alvarez, Grand Valley State
Sara Alvarez was a major contributor in the Tri-Meet last Saturday against Calvin University and Saginaw Valley State. She competed in the women’s 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.19 to take first place. Alvarez was part of the 200 yard medley relay to take first place with a time of 1:43.79. She placed first in both the 200 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard IM.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Jimmy Nord, St. Cloud State
Jimmy Nord swept both diving events at last weekend’s meet in LaCrosse, earning wins in both the 1-Meter (307.00) and 3-Meter (319.5). Nord is coming off a 8th place finish in the 1M Dive and 14th Place finish in the 3M Dive at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Maddie Kooistra, Grand Valley State 
Maddie Kooistra competed at Venema Aquatic Center against Calvin and Saginaw Valley and placed first in the 1 meter dive with a score of 254.95. Kooistra placed first in the 3 meter dive with a score of 253.50.
