GVSU's Hoebeke and SVSU's Kimble honored as GLIAC softball player and pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the eighth week of the 2026 softball season. Grand Valley State freshman infielder Kylee Hoebeke was named GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State junior lefthander Aalana Kimble was recognized as GLIAC Pitcher of the Week. 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kylee Hoebeke, Grand Valley State
Kylee Hoebeke has been named the GLIAC player of the week for the first time in her career. The freshman notched a career high eight RBI batting 4-4 with a home run and triple in the game two win at Roosevelt. Hoebeke launched her third home run of the season in the doubleheader at Davenport. Throughout the week, Hoebeke tallied 11 hits with 11 RBI, four runs scored, two home runs, two doubles, and one triple. She is tied for the team lead with three home runs and ranks second with 26 RBI on the season. 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Aalana Kimble, Saginaw Valley State
Aalana Kimble was dominant in the circle for the Cardinals this week. She pitched 24.0 total innings and surrendered 13 hits in four appearances, with four earned runs through that stretch. She sat down 19 batters on strikes to improve to 11-5 on the season. Kimble recorded two wins over Roosevelt on Sunday. Kimble pitched a no-hitter in game one against the Lakers on Sunday, going 7.0 innings with two walks and eight strikeouts. It is her second no-hitter of the season, and she joins teammate Macy Irelan as the only Cardinal pitchers to throw two no-hitters in a single season.
