GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the 10th week of the 2026 softball season. Parkside senior third baseman Mia Johnson earned GLIAC Player of the Week recognition while Ferris State freshman hurler Katie Shuboy was honored as GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mia Johnson, Parkside
Parkside softball senior third baseman Mia Johnson has been named GLIAC Player of the Week for the third time this season. Johnson delivered a dominant week at the plate, highlighted by a historic power surge in Saturday’s doubleheader against Lewis. The senior launched four home runs across the twin bill, including a three-homer performance in game one to fuel the Rangers’ sweep. For the week, Johnson hit .533 (8-for-15) with four home runs, five RBI, and nine runs scored while posting a staggering 1.400 slugging percentage and .696 on-base percentage. She also drew eight walks and did not strike out, continuing her consistent presence in the middle of the Parkside lineup. The weekly honor marks the third time this season Johnson has earned GLIAC Player of the Week recognition, further solidifying her status as one of the top hitters in the conference. Parkside returns to action this week as the Rangers continue GLIAC play on the road against Roosevelt.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Katie Shuboy, Ferris State
Ferris State University freshman pitcher Katie Shuboy had a big week for the Bulldogs, recording a team-leading 0.91 earned run average and a perfect 3-0 mark on the week. Shuboy tossed 23 innings in four appearances with three complete-game efforts. For the week, she allowed only three earned runs on 15 hits with 13 strikeouts and four walks. The rookie pitcher tossed all seven innings in each of her final three appearances this week, including a win over league leader Saginaw Valley State last Tuesday she she did not give up an earned run. She also posted wins over the weekend against both Parkside and Roosevelt in a pair of 6-1 decisions as FSU closed the week with five consecutive victories overall.
