GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2025 volleyball season. Grand Valley State senior Meghan O'Sullivan was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Grand Valley State redshirt junior Brianna Stawski was awarded GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades and Michigan Tech junior Tess Hayes received GLIAC Setter of the Week recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Meghan O'Sullivan, Grand Valley State
For the first time in her career, Grand Valley State senior setter Meghan O’Sullivan has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week. She helped lead GVSU to two key league victories against Ferris State and Davenport, helping them be the lone undefeated team in the conference. Over the two games, O’Sullivan tallied 25 kills, 44 assists, and 20 digs, hitting at a .300 clip. In Friday’s victory at #12 Ferris State, she had her third triple-double of the season, notching a team-high 16 kills, swinging .394, adding 19 assists, and 11 digs. O’Sullivan followed that up with 25 assists, nine kills, and nine digs in the four-set win at Davenport.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brianna Stawski, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State middle hitter Brianna Stawski was named the GLIAC’s Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career. Stawski had a monster weekend at the net, recording 16 total blocks, three solo and 13 block assists, while contributing 21 kills. She recorded nine kills and four total blocks in the victory at Ferris State, hitting .304. That was followed up with 12 total blocks, the most of anyone in the GLIAC this season, at Davenport. In the win over the Panthers, Stawski also posted 12 kills, swinging at a .524 clip. This season, the redshirt junior leads the conference in both hitting percentage (.398), blocks (55), and blocks per set (1.38).
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Tess Hayes, Michigan Tech
Tess Hayes led Michigan Tech to a weekend sweep at the SDC Gym, setting the offense with 74 assists and averaging 10.57 per set. The junior setter added 16 digs, four aces, three kills, and three block assists in the two matches. Hayes tallied 35 assists and eight digs in a sweep of Roosevelt on Friday and 39 assists and eight digs in a 3-1 victory over Parkside on Saturday. Hayes ranks eighth in the GLIAC in assists per set (7.74).
