2025 Roosevelt Women's Cross Country Season Preview

There has been a lot of change within the Roosevelt cross country program over the past year, starting with the man at the top. Michael Moffitt joined the Lakers this summer from conference rival Purdue Northwest, giving some stability to a program looking to grow. Moffitt is bringing that growth mindset into a team of hungry runners eager to prove themselves against the region’s best over the next three months.

On the men’s side, Roosevelt can rely on the experience of Raul Ortiz to lead the way as the senior enters his fourth year running for the Lakers. Sophomores Ajay Marquez and Jason Perez-Martin both got a small taste of college running last season, and are looking to improve upon their strong finishes in the conference championships last year. The Lakers also bring in a trio of newcomers hoping to help the team move up in the conference standings.

It is an all-veteran team on the women’s side with plenty of potential within the squad. Gloria Romero made a huge first impression, leading the Lakers in the conference championships in her first and only race as a freshman. Lisset Munoz has had a long road of improvement the past two years, and has taken her training to the next level this summer. Shelsee Isassi has made steady improvements as well, culminating in her personal record at the GLIAC Championships.
