WSU's Drenth and DU's Opray receive GLIAC Tennis Players of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2025 tennis spring season. Wayne State senior Cedric Drenth and Davenport freshman Sienna Opray were selected for recognition.

MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cedric Drenth, Wayne State
Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany / Altkönigschule Kronberg) continued his impressive senior campaign this past weekend, aiding the Wayne State University men's tennis squad to a pair of road victories at Lake Superior State University and Michigan Tech University.  The WSU student-athlete tallied two victories while competing in the No. 1 singles spot, posting a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win against the Lakers and a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 triumph in the match with the Huskies.  Drenth and his partner, George Day (Southampton, United Kingdom / Peter Symonds College), continued to shine in the No. 1 doubles position, collecting a 6-3 win over the LSSU pairing and a 6-4 triumph against the duo from MTU.
WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sienna Opray, Davenport
For the second time this spring, Sienna Opray has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women’s tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Monday evening. The freshman helped guide the Panthers to their second conference win of the season on Saturday, taking down Saginaw Valley State 4-3. In doubles play, Opray teamed up with Skye Vandeleur and secured a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 position. Her success carried into singles action, picking up a 6-2, 7-5 win slotted at the No. 1 position. The freshman has now won 14 of her previous 15 matches in singles action.
