GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fifth week of the 2025 tennis spring season. Grand Valley State senior Lucas Gonzalez and Davenport freshman Sienna Opray were selected for recognition.
MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lucas Gonzalez, Grand Valley State
Lucas Gonzalez has been named the GLIAC men's tennis player of the week for the first time this season. Gonzalez claimed a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 three-set win at No. 2 singles against #15 Charleston in Lakeland, Florida. The senior has posted a 5-1 record in singles action with a 2-1 record from the second singles position and a 3-0 record from No. 3 singles. In doubles, Gonzalez is 6-2 to start the season all from the top doubles position.
WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sienna Opray, Davenport
Sienna Opray has been named the GLIAC Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The freshman went a perfect 4-0 in singles action, including a 6-0, 6-4 in the squads match against No. 22 Tampa, taking down Sophia Gutkowski at No. 1 singles. In doubles action, Opray finished with a 3-2 record, with her only loss coming to nationally-ranked Tampa. Paired with Amy Bloch, the duo defeated Karly Kushner and Kayla Weller (Alma) 6-0. Against the University of Mary, Opray and Skye Vanderleur took home a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
