GVSU's Zamaraiev and Hernandez earn GLIAC Tennis Player of the Week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the sixth week of the 2025 tennis spring season. Grand Valley State junior Denys Zamaraiev and senior Estefania Hernandez were selected for recognition.

MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Denys Zamaraiev, Grand Valley State
Denys Zamaraiev has been named the GLIAC men's tennis player of the week for the first time this season. Zamaraiev posted a 2-0 record in singles action and a 1-1 record in doubles action. He claimed a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at the top singles position and a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles against #7 Rollins. Zamaraiev helped GVSU defeat #14 Florida Southern with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at the top singles position. The junior is now 8-1 in singles action this season all from the top position with six wins being in straight sets. 
WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Estefania Hernandez, Grand Valley State
Estefania Hernandez has been named the GLIAC women's tennis player of the week for the first time this season. Hernandez posted a 2-0 record in singles and a 1-1 record in doubles last week in the Lakers spring break trip in Florida. She claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win from the No. 4 singles position against Rollins. She helped GVSU defeat #22 Tampa with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set win from No. 4 singles and a 6-2 win from No. 2 doubles. Hernandez is 6-1 in singles play this season including four straight matches won all from the No. 4 position.
