Four GLIAC teams earn bids NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament; GVSU to host as Midwest Region No. 1 seed

INDIANAPOLIS -- Four GLIAC teams -- Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan, Wayne State and Ferris State -- are among the field of 64 that will compete in the 2024 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship, the NCAA Division II Women’s Committee announced late on Sunday evening.

GLIAC regular season and tournament champion Grand Valley State was awarded the Midwest Region's No. 1 seed and will serve as hosts.

All Midwest Region first round games will be played on Friday, March 14 at the home of the Lakers, GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

GVSU (32-2) will meet No. 8 seed Quincy (25-7) at 5 p.m. The Lakers defeated the Hawks, 73-58, in a regular-season matchup in December at Quincy.

Northern Michigan (22-5), the No. 3 seed, will face No. 6 Hillsdale (21-9) at 12 p.m.

Wayne State (19-11) earned the No. 4 seed and will square off with fifth-seeded Lewis (26-3) at 7:30 p.m.

Ferris State (21-11) will serve as the No. 7 seed. The Bulldogs will take on No. 2 seed Ashland (30-3) at 2:30 p.m.

The regional semifinals will take place on Saturday, March 15, with the championship game set for Monday, March 17.

The eight regional champions advancing to the Women's Elite Eight will be seeded by the Women's Basketball Committee after completion of the regionals.

The 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Elite Eight will be held at the UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pa., March 24-28.
