GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 7 of the 2025-26 women's basketball season. Grand Valley State sophomore forward MacKenzie Bisballe was honored as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Wayne State senior forward Taylor Thompson earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: MacKenzie Bisballe, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State sophomore MacKenzie Bisballe was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following two dominant performances in the Upper Peninsula. Across two Laker victories, Bisballe totaled 42 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and one steal, while shooting 51.4% from the field. In Friday’s 73-53 victory over Michigan Tech, Bisballe tallied a season-high 22 points on 9-13 shooting, adding seven rebounds and two assists. She followed that up with her first double-double of the season on Saturday, posting 20 points and 10 rebounds, adding three blocks in the 78- 66 win over #12 Northern Michigan. This is the second GLIAC Player of the Week selection for Bisballe this season, as she earned Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Taylor Thompson, Wayne State
Wayne State University senior forward Taylor Thompson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) has been selected GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career, and second time this season, after helping the squad to a pair of road wins at Saginaw Valley State (Jan. 2) and Lake Superior State (Jan. 4). She notched her third-consecutive double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds (eight defensive) to go with a pair of steals in the 77-39 triumph at SVSU. At LSSU, Thompson nabbed eight boards (five defensive), four steals, and two blocks during the 74-70 win. Offensively, she scored 17 points and had two assists against the Lakers. In the second quarter at Lake Superior State, the 2024-25 Second Team All-GLIAC honoree tallied seven points, three steals, and two rebounds as the Warriors built a 13-point lead entering the halftime break.
