GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the fourth week of the 2025 tennis spring season. Purdue Northwest sophomore Alex van Lumich and Grand Valley State sophomore Vale Mozas were selected for recognition.
MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alex van Lumich, Purdue Northwest
Sophomore Purdue Northwest Men’s Tennis student-athlete Alex van Lumich has been honored with his first career GLIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors. Alex had a stellar week for the Pride that included big wins against Butler University this past weekend. Against Butler, he defeated the #1 singles player for the Bulldogs in an exciting match, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. He then later in the day went on to defeat the top Butler doubles team in another gripping match that went to the wire. He finished his weekend with a singles win against Walsh’s top player, 7-5, 6-2, and helped earn another doubles win against Walsh in a big 6-2 win.
WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vale Mozas, Grand Valley State
Vale Mozas has been named the women's tennis player of the week for the first time this season. Mozas helped lead the Lakers to a 6-1 win at Northwood last Friday as GVSU improved to 4-1 to start the season. She claimed a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at No. 2 singles for her second win at the No. 2 singles position this season.
