GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 8 of the 2024 men's soccer season. Roosevelt junior forward Oskar Schuster was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Davenport freshman goalkeeper Beau Hudd was selected GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Oskar Schuster, Roosevelt
Oskar Schuster netted his first career hat trick Sunday to propel Roosevelt to a 3-1 win over Northern Michigan, capping off a six-point weekend for the Lakers. The Halle, Germany native scored in the first half to give Roosevelt the lead then added two more tallies in the first seven minutes of the second half. Sunday’s victory was Schuster’s third multi-goal game of the season and a program-record seventh in his career. He know ranks second in the GLIAC with seven goals this season and he is fourth with 1.29 shots on goal per game.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Beau Hudd, Davenport
Beau Hudd was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week as a catalyst in the Panthers’ undefeated Week Eight record (2-0). The true freshman posted his second shutout win of 2024 after making five saves in the 1-0 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Oct. 25. Hudd followed up the performance with six saves against Purdue Northwest (Oct. 27), leading to a 2-1 win over the Pride to maintain DU’s undefeated home record of 5-0-1; 4-0-1 against league opponents. Hudd is now the third true freshman to receive DPOW honors in the program’s NCAA/GLIAC history.
