The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2026 volleyball season. Ferris State outside hitter Gabby Piazza was tabbed as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, Ferris State libero Hope Davis received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition and Grand Valley State setter Gabby Orlet was named GLIAC Setter of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gabby Piazza, Ferris State
Ferris State University junior outside hitter Gabby Piazza led the top-ranked Bulldogs in a pair of GLIAC contests this past week, totaling 32 kills to go with 10 digs, five blocks, two aces and two assists. She tallied a .413 attack percentage and totaled 5.33 kills per set to go with 6.17 points a frame. Piazza’s play helped the Bulldogs sweep both Wayne State at home on Tuesday and Michigan Tech on the road Friday as FSU improved to 12-0 overall this year and 4-0 in conference play.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hope Davies, Ferris State
Ferris State University junior libero Hope Davies had another big week for the nation’s top-ranked Bulldogs as FSU improved to 12-0 overall this season and 4-0 in conference action. Davies had a team-high 40 digs in two matches while averaging an impressive 6.67 digs per set as FSU topped Wayne State 3-0 on Tuesday at home before recording a 3-0 road sweep over Michigan Tech on Friday in Houghton. Davies had 17 digs in the win over the Warriors and 23 against the Huskies this past week.
SETTER OF THE WEEK: Gabby Orlet, Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State setter Gabby Orlet was named GLIAC Setter of the Week for the second time this season. The sophomore totaled 91 assists, 15 digs, six kills, and four blocks across two Laker victories. She had 30 assists, three digs, and two kills in the Friday sweep of Roosevelt, leading a GVSU offense that swung at a .333 clip. On Saturday, Orlet set a new career-high with 61 assists, adding 12 digs, four kills, and three blocks in the five-set victory at Parkside. This season, Orlet ranks third in the GLIAC and 19th nationally, dishing out 10.05 assists per set.
