The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 4 of the 2026 men's soccer season. Roosevelt swept the awards, with Fynn Mewes earning GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and Matthew Goulding receiving GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Fynn Mewes, Roosevelt
Fynn Mewes won his second GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week this season with two more goals in Roosevelt's two wins this weekend. The Lakers star forward has scored in all six matches this season, including tallying the game winner on a great individual effort against Parkside on Thursday for the only goal of the game. The German then opened the scoring against Purdue Northwest on Sunday with a gorgeous far-post shot off a corner kick. He also set up the Lakers' second goal with a press that forced a mistake from the Lions defense and left the net empty for Roosevelt to capitalize.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Matthew Goulding, Roosevelt
Matt Goulding earned his first career GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honor after anchoring the Lakers to a pair of shutout wins last week. The sophomore from England played all 90 minutes of both Roosevelt's 1-0 win over Parkside on Thursday and its 2-0 victory over Purdue Northwest on Sunday. The Lakers allowed just eight shots on goal across the two games in large part due to Goulding organizing the defense and keeping his poise with the ball at his feet in the defensive third.
