GVSU's Sengphrachanh honored as GLIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year; All-GLIAC teams announced

MIDLAND, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2026 All-GLIAC Women's Tennis Team on Thursday following the opening matches of the conference tournament at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich. 

Grand Valley State's Natasha Sengphrachanh was named GLIAC Athlete of the Year, Ferris State's Madeline Peisley received the GLIAC Freshman of the Year award and Grand Valley State earned GLIAC Coaching Staff of the Year recognition. Davenport's Amy Bloch was honored as the recipient of the GLIAC Women's Tennis Sportsmanship Award.


2026 GLIAC ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Natasha Sengphrachanh, Grand Valley State
Natasha Sengphrachanh has been named the GLIAC women’s tennis player of the year. Sengphrachanh becomes the fourth Laker in program history to earn player of the year honors. On the season, Sengphrachanh has posted a perfect 14-0 record in singles dual matches action all from the top position dropping just two sets. She went 7-0 in singles in conference play to help lead GVSU to a GLIAC regular season championship. In the fall, Sengphrachanh became the first player in GVSU program history to win the ITA Cup and being ranked as the number one singles player in the country. In doubles action, Sengphrachanh has posted a 14-2 record in dual matches all from the top doubles position, going 6-1 in conference play.
2026 GLIAC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Madeline Peisley, Ferris State
Ferris State University’s Madeline Peisley has had a big debut season for the Bulldogs, who finished second overall in the GLIAC during regular-season play this campaign. In her initial collegiate campaign, Peisley has tallied a 20-5 overall singles record on the year and produced a 6-1 record in conference play at the number one flight in the FSU lineup. Overall, she’s also won seven of her last eight singles matches to date. In doubles play, Peisley is 13-11 to date this season and went 5-2 in GLIAC play at the number two flight in the Bulldog lineup with Ayva Johnstone. Her combined 33-16 record to date ranks as one of the school’s best rookie performances in program history. She’s ranked among the top 50 singles players in the country in the ITA National Rankings.
2026 GLIAC COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR
Grand Valley State
Head coach Sam Barr and the GVSU coaching staff have been named the GLIAC women’s tennis coaching staff of the year. This is the second GLIAC coach of the year honors for Barr in her career at GVSU. Barr has guided GVSU to the GLIAC regular season championship with a perfect 7-0 record. During her time at GVSU, Barr has led the women’s program to three GLIAC regular season championships and one tournament championship. The Lakers finished the regular season with a 15-1 overall record and are ranked number one in this week’s NCAA Midwest regional rankings.
