GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its awards following the second week of the 2026 softball season. Parkside senior catcher/infielder Mia Johnson was named GLIAC Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State junior lefthander Aalana Kiimble earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mia Johnson, Parkside
Back-to-back GLIAC Player of the Year Mia Johnson has once again been recognized, securing GLIAC Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row. Johnson earned the honor after batting an impressive .600 across five games, going 9-for-15 at the plate. She posted a 1.333 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base percentage, scoring six runs. Her nine hits included five doubles and two home runs, while driving in six RBIs.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Aalana Kimble, Saginaw Valley State
Aalana Kimble recorded her first career no-hitter in the circle for SVSU after leading the team to a 2-0 win in game two against Palm Beach Atlantic. The win completed a sweep of the Sailfish and improved Kimble's record to 4-0 on the season. She was one walk, hit by pitch, and error away from a perfect game and struck out seven batters for the second time this season. The shutout victory is her second of the season. She currently ranks second in the GLIAC in ERA with 1.00 and opposing batting average with .158. She is 14th in NCAA Division II in WHIP with a GLIAC-leading mark of .76.
